Adios 2014; "It's Been Real!"

Tuesday's Talk With D

"Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us."
~Hal Borland~

As we close out this year, I would like to take this time to say thank you for being on this journey with me. Since returning from the Blogging Conference, I’ve been very dedicated to blogging more frequently. It truly amazes me that when you commit yourself to helping others how everything falls into place.

When I decided to take the month of December and do a series about finding your life purpose, I wondered how everything would work out. I must say everyone welcomed what I had to say and looked forward to my next posting. That’s truly an honor.  In talking to friends, I’ve found that as we become older we question are we truly living our life purpose or question what is our life purpose. I decided to discuss this topic because I know as a young adult, (clears throat) that’s been a very long time ago; they are unaware of their life purpose as well.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Tis The Season To Be Jolly

Last night, I attended Mass at Saint Francis Xavier for our Christmas celebration. The Birth of Jesus. This year, Christmas Carols was hosted by the PSR Students Staff and Children’s Choir of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. I must say everything was phenomenal. The children sung their hearts out. The praise and energy in the church was everything and more. We were truly blessed to be able to experience such a delightful celebration in the House of the Lord. We serve an awesome God.

3-2-1 Action; You Must Have a Plan for Success

Tuesday's Talk With D

Action is the foundational key to all success. Pablo Picasso

Here we are in our 2nd to last week of our December’s Life Purpose month.

Finding our life purpose in life is essential to leading a fulfilling life. I hope leading into our 4th week of preparation of questions for the upcoming year has been beneficial for you. As we reflect on last week’s questions, we determined our goals, wrote them down and made sure they were precise and clear. We also want to make sure our plans are realistic for us to achieve. With this process we are more likely to achieve our goals. We are building a foundation for success. “Success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation there is such to be failure.” - Confucius

Give Your Life Direction; Set Your Dreams and Goals; Make Them Your Reality

Tuesday's Talk With D

“A dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement.”
                                                                                                                     Bo Bennett

As we enter into our 3rd week, our focus this week centers on your dreams and goals.

Before we get started let’s reflect on last week’s post. As I stated, having a clear picture (vision) of who you want to be in the future, set’s the path for you to reach your goals. It’s a road-map to guide you through the hills and valleys. When times get rough as life sometimes does, the vision you have for your life will appear in your mind and set you back on your path to greatness. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Discover Your Vision For A Brighter Future

Tuesday's Talk With D

“To the person who does not know where he wants to go there is no favorable wind.”

— Seneca

Reflecting back on last week’s post, I hope you had the opportunity to take some time to think about what’s your purpose in life.  What is truly in your heart to do this upcoming year? If you missed reading last week’s post, please take this time to do so. It’s a question we often ask ourselves when we feel we are stagnant in a position or we no longer feel the joy doing something we once loved.

Reasons To Be Extra Thankful This Thanksgiving: My Testimony

Tuesday's Talk With D

I give thanks to my Creator for this wonderful life where each of us has the opportunity to learn lessons we could not fully comprehend by any other means.
                                                                                                                 Joseph Wirthlin

As Thanksgiving approaches, I think about all there is to be thankful for. When I reflect on life itself this Thanksgiving, there’s a big kool-aid smile that spreads across my face. This year has been one of the most difficult years in my life and the smile I display is one of gratefulness, because I’m still standing. I’m still standing because of GOD. I’ve always known and had a relationship with GOD, but this year’s bond is unique and one of pure gratitude. When I thought I was at my lowest point, it truly was my highest because my bond became stronger with GOD. He’s been my rock during my storm. I will share a very intimate detail with you, I’ve always had my faith but there were times I was so discouraged I didn’t have the strength or the desire to read the bible. There’s no doubt that I’ve grown closer to GOD through my trials and tribulations especially this year and that’s definitely a reason to be thankful.

Do You Find Yourself Complaining About Little Things?

Tuesday's Talk With D

“Be grateful for what you have and stop complaining – it bores everybody else, does you no good, and doesn’t solve any problems.” Zig Ziglar

I love everything about this quote. It sums everything up in a nutshell. My focus lately to God, has been asking Him, to take the desire away about complaining and if I might add, cursing, don’t judge me. That will be a post for a later time. I find myself complaining about small things or big things and the majority of the time, it’s not about anything serious. I know if I’ve notice my own complaining others have as well. But, my focus is not on what others think but about how I feel when I complain. My goal is to work on myself, and in that I’m noticing things that I need to work on and complaining is the first thing. When I say complaining, my complaints are I’m tired, I don’t feel like doing this or that, it’s basically just hearing myself talk about what I don’t feel like doing, and frankly I believe I’ve gotten on my own nerves. Now, isn’t that something?  When someone can admit their tired of hearing themselves complain about basically nothing. I believe this is something that we all can relate to but maybe not necessarily readily to admit to. I’m at a point in my life, where I’m ready to acknowledge my faults publicly and work on them as well. I realize that we often complain without realizing that we are complaining.

3 Simple Smart Ways to Keep Your Little Ghost and Ghouls Safe This Halloween

Halloween is a time for celebration. It is a time for candy and costumes. A time for your little ones to dress up in their favorite character costumes hollering trick or treat, give me something good to eat. All around the world kids and parents are gearing up for Halloween. For weeks stores have been displaying Halloween decorations. Families have decorated their yards in spooky decorations anticipating kid’s arrival. In some neighborhoods contest are given for the best decorated home.
It is a time where family and friends gather for mingling.  In some instances, families choose to have Halloween parties at home instead of participating in the tradition of walking their subdivision. Let us not forget there are even adult costume parties. What is a party if the adults cannot partake in the tradition as well, right? It’s been a running joke for as long as I can remember that adults enjoy Halloween just as much as the kids.

It Takes A Village: The Fight Against Domestic Violence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A month that we solely raise awareness and shed light about domestic abuse. According to the National Coalition against Domestic Violence, on average, nearly 20 people per minute are victims of physical violence by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experience some form of physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime. These numbers are extremely alarming, so with that being said our fight against Domestic Violence continues. It is our goal to one day be able to say Domestic Violence is no longer an issue in the world.

Hooray! My 1st Blog Elevated Conference Experience Was Everything: I Survived…

Who knew stepping out of your comfort zone could be so rewarding. I am so elated I decided to step out of my comfort zone to attend my first blogging conference. In the beginning, I was apprehensive and even leading up to the conference I still had reservations about attending. I had no particular reason for feeling this way so I’m assuming it was because it was a new experience for me. We all know when we’re doing something new, there’s an uneasiness that comes with it, even if it’s only for a little while. However, I put those feelings aside and mentally encouraged myself about attending. It’s all a mind thing anyway, right?

I'm Going
About a week before I was scheduled to attend the blogging conference, I posted an “I’m going” blog picture by BlogElevated to my Instagram account with the hashtag #BlogElevated.

Later that day I received a message from ArtSeaChic stating it was her first time as well.  I replied “awesome, can’t wait to meet you!” We discussed the various breakout sessions that were going to take place in between the meetings. We were going to attend the same sessions except for one. She informed me there were a handful of bloggers that she was going to meet and asked, if I would like to join them, of course I stated yes and she added me to their Facebook thread. From there, we introduced ourselves and eagerly awaited the conference. My uneasiness slowly faded away.

It's A Bummer Sitting in this Office All Day!-Springtime Anticipation

Courtesy of "D"
The Louisiana State Capitol Grounds
As Spring approaches, I just can’t shake off the urge to want to spend as much time as possible outdoors enjoying the sunshine and gorgeous weather! Are you just sitting in your cubicles daydreaming about being outside when the weather is beautiful? Are you trying to get a glimpse of the sun every chance you get during the day, walking to the bathroom or to the water fountain? While we’re all tremendously blessed to be employed, during this time of the year, it’s a bummer sitting in stuffy cubicles when the warm wind is blowing, birds are chirping and flowers are blooming. Can you relate to that “bummer” feeling? How many of you are feeling the same way? Springtime has a calming effect on my soul and it sparks my creativity. We can use this energy to inspire us to do things we’ve been saying we’d do all year – remember those New Year resolutions?? If you are like me, you’re probably working in a 9-to-5 type of setting with two fifteen minute breaks, one in the morning and one in the evening. It is my suggestion that we cure the springtime stuck-in-the-office blues by restarting our fitness plan, catching up on stalled projects, and maybe re-focusing on healthy eating and nutrition.
