3 Strategies to Building Your Empire

Strategies, Relationships, Lifelong Learner, Consistency, Business

People create their own success by learning what they need to learn and then practicing it until they become proficient at it. Brian Tracy

In life we go through many phases. Whether we chose to work for someone else and then branch out on our own, or chose to work for ourselves right from the start, the ability to choose our own path is what makes us determine to succeed.

Meet Our New Bundle of Joy ~ Gia Alyce

Bundle of Joy, Baby Girl, Granddaughters, Grandchildren

Ten little fingers, ten little toes, two beautiful eyes, and one button nose! Join us in celebrating the arrival of Baby Gia!

So, here I am again, welcoming my second grand-baby into the world.  I am a 2nd time Ya-Ya to a healthy baby girl named, Gia Alyce. It is hard to believe that I now have two grandchildren. If you know me or have been following me, you know that I am an only child, who had an only child. Therefore, to see that I now have two grand-children is surprising. I know my daughter wished she had a sibling growing up, and I’m pretty sure I wished that as well. Therefore, I can understand why she would have wanted to break the cycle of that only child syndrome for her children.

The "BoomBox Classic" Rivalry Did Not Disappoint Fans

SWAC, football, fun, party, tailgating, food

Rivalry isn’t hate, it is a partnership in disguise. If you want to give it your all and be your best, you need a rival. Without one you wouldn’t be your best, you wouldn’t give it your all. ~ Anonymous

The rivalry between two well respected historically black universities did not disappoint fans on October 15, 2016. Jackson State University and Southern University drew crowds from all over the state. This particular game was an anticipated sell out. The enormous amount of fans that attended this game, have been supporting both colleges for years.

Support, Women, Event, Conference, Networking

I always believed that one woman’s success can only help another woman’s success. Gloria Vanderbuilt

If feels good to be at an event where women support each another. On Saturday, October 8th, I had the opportunity to attend a “Survivor Networking Conference.” The event was called “Sassy Superwomen Rock!!!” Originally, I was asked to be a speaker but because of a prior engagement I declined. Because, I couldn’t attend I decided to promote my Avon business and participate in the swag bag inserts. I also donated gift bags of Avon products for door prizes.

3 D's to Make Sure You Finish This Year Strong

Success, Determination, Discipline, Dedication, Goals

When you think about quitting, think about why you started. ~Anonymous

As we approach the ending of the year, I felt it necessary to point out three important factors to ensure we finish this year without any regrets. Speaking for myself, I know throughout the year life becomes hectic and I sometimes put things on the back burner. In doing so, I push myself further from the goals I had originally set at the beginning of the year.

Grace Ann's 1st Birthday Party was a HIT!

I can’t keep calm, I’m the birthday princess.

On Saturday, the 17th my grand-daughter Grace Ann turned one year old. By this being her first birthday party I wanted to go all out. All I can say is a grand-mothers love. For those of you who are grand-parents, you know that special love for your first grand-baby and wanting things to be perfect. Well, that’s the joy I was feeling for Grace Ann’s first party. I was overjoyed to say the least.

While out running errands Saturday, we decided to make it a fun day and take my grand-daughter, Grace Ann to the zoo. It was not anything planned just something to do on a pretty day. Sometimes doing things on the spur of the moment makes it even more exciting. Seeing that Grace Ann makes one year old next Saturday, the 17th, we decided to get the party started early. It’s Grace Ann’s birthday, it’s her birthday!

Finding "ME" Time in the Midst of It All

Self-love, Life, Spiritual

I enjoy moments alone with myself. My energy is restored and I am reconnected with soul. ~ Anonymous

Finding the time to get a little “Me” time should take precedence over many things. When we are depleted we are not fully capable of doing anything for anyone much less ourselves. If we do find the time to do for others, it is not done with love and care. It’s more like out of obligation. Before we commit to doing for others, we should make sure we are in the best place mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.

Unity in the Community~Louisiana Historic Flood 2016

unity, community, flood, devastation

Unity is strength…when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.” Mattie J.T. Stepanek

Words cannot express the shock, hurt, disbelief nor the pain I feel for families that were affected in Baton Rouge and the surrounding parishes here in Louisiana last week. It has been a week since the flooding occurred and I still cannot gather my thoughts around everything that has happened. And, I know if I was not affected and feel this way, I cannot imagine the families that were affected thoughts and feelings. There are so many mixed emotions out there that it is heartbreaking.

7 Steps on How to Let Go

Acceptance, Experiences, Life, Purpose, Relationships, Life-Lessons

“Some of us think holding on makes us strong, but sometimes it is letting go.” ~ Herman Hesse

Letting go can be a daunting task. There are many obstacles that hinder you from letting go. When you have finally reached the point of enough, many times those obstacles becomes obsolete. It is typically about, “how do I move on?”

Knowing When to Let Go

You’ll never get what you truly deserve if you remain attached to what you’re supposed to let go of. ~ Anonymous

There is a reason and season for everything or everyone that enters into our lives. Just as they enter into our lives, there is also a time for them to go. Many times if we are in tune with our intuition we know when that time comes.  When we are not in tune with our intuition uncertainty sets into our minds. Uncertainty in understanding, “Am I making the right decision?”

Having Faith during Difficult Times

Faith, Peace, Belief, Trials, Life-Lessons, Life

Faith is simply confidence in the trustworthiness of God. ~ Anonymous

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1) In going through the journey of life sometimes we are put in positions we never thought nor wanted to be in. We wonder, “What the hell…?” I’ve learned that these very experiences cause you to grow closer to God. In experiencing these trials we are faced with growing our faith and strengthening our relationship with God or giving up.

With everything that has happened in my personal life and with the news from the killings of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, the Dallas police officers, the attack on France and now in the senseless ambush on the Baton Rouge Police Officers, I find myself with no peace.

One man alone can’t defeat the forces of evil, but many good people coming together can. ~ Harold Kushner

In light of recent events, the unfortunate shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, I felt compelled to speak on the need for unity in the community of Baton Rouge, La and the entire country. In the terms of, “United We Stand, Divided We Fall,” we must all stand together if we want our message to be heard. Joining together as a community and a nation is much more profound than being divided individually. It serves as a message that we are here and we want justice for these senseless murders.

Never Stop Striving for the Best that is Within You. ~ Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Each waking hour we think about steps to move forward in life. We think about strategic ways that we can advance in our professional and personal lives. With either choice we are looking to achieve success. Without knowing if there are specific objectives that we should be working towards to achieve this success our focus should always be to strive to be and do our best.

3 Easy Ways You Can Take Back Control Over Your Life

Life, Life Lessons, Determination, Stress, Peace

Incredible Change Happens in Your Life When You Decide to Take Control. ~ Anonymous

There are times when we let life take control over us instead of us taking control of life. When this happens we lose the ability to prioritize what is important and therefore allow anything to distract us. We become so caught up in our day-to-day activities and forget that it is us that control our lives and not the other way around.

When life throws you lemons, say oh yeah “I Love Lemons” what else have you got? ~ Anonymous

Life throws unexpected trials and tribulations at any given time. The ole’ saying in life is when life throws you lemons, make lemonade. Recently, BeyoncĂ© dropped her Lemonade album which chronicled the joys and pains of love, referencing when life hands you lemons, you make lemonade. Well in my 40+ year journey I’ve learned when life hands you lemons, you make a lemon drop martini. (Don’t Judge Me) As in previous post I guess you can see that the lemon drop martini is my beverage of choice to relax, relate, and release.

8 Actions to Be a Better Friend

A friend is one of the nicest things you can have and one of the best things you can be. ~ Anonymous

Because every once in a while, we can all be a better friend. We’ve all been down this road, where things have become busy in our lives and we tend to lose touch with the ones we love. It’s not done on purpose but life does get in the way from keeping and maintaining close friendships. Knowing this we should be intentional with trying our best to find time to talk, share a laugh, show concern and be there for the ones that are dear to our hearts.

3 Ways We Can Work Together for Our Youth

Community, Teamwork, Effort, Listen, Judgement, Compassion

When a kid graduates it’s not only that kid and his family that wins. Our community wins.” ~ Anonymous

The other day I was reading an article about communities coming together for the sake of the youth in today’s timing. You know the saying, “It Takes a Village” to raise our children. It made me realize that while we may not always agree with the path some of our youth or our own children have taken, they still deserve the right to express their feelings be them valid or not.

It's A Lot to Be Said about Our Youth Today

Children, Youth, Young Adult, Life, Consequences, Respect, Parents,Generation

“Some people accuse the new generation of being ignorant, maybe ignorant for the old generation, but it’s a new language.”
Domenico Dolce

I feel like venting, so here I go:

It’s a lot to be said about our younger generation. In all honesty I have never seen anything like them before in my life (As if they were aliens from a different planet). Yes I know, we were once their age BUT, the difference is we had more respect and feared our parents a lot more than the children have today. These children have no fear. They believe they are invincible to any type of consequences in life.

Trusting God's Plan

Faith is trusting God even when you don’t understand his plan. Anonymous

We may not always understand why things happen the way they do. Wrapping our mind around life’s occurrences leaves us trying to figure out why certain things happen when they do. It leaves us questioning God and asking, why. Why Lord, why?  I use to find myself asking this question every time something tragic would happen in my life. I could never understand why God would allow such things to happen when and how they do. Why would he allow anyone to experience such pain?

Make the Rest of Your Life, the Best of Your Life ~ Anonymous

What is the saying “I may not be where I want to be, but thank God I am not where I use to be!” I often hear this phrase from people that have gone through a hardship of some kind during their lifetime. Usually these people have been delivered from being in the streets. When I say “in the street’s” I am talking about drug dealers, drug addicts, gang bangers, prostitutes, or as one might say a free spirited person that believes life should be lived carelessly.

3 Reasons You Should Open Up Your Heart to Love Again

Heart, Life, Relationships, Patience, Heartbreak, Happiness, Companionship, Love

May you surrender your defenses open your heart and love freely. Anonymous

We have all been hurt a time or two. Some more than others. However, this should not be a reason that we do not allow love into our lives today or for the future. The great thing about past hurts are that they are a part of our past. We do not need to bring them into our present or future. Should we be more aware? Of course we should, but we should not let one bad apple or two stop us from opening up our heart again to love or to be loved. We have the ability to heal from past hurts and move forward with our lives.

Several weeks ago I had the opportunity to break away and enjoy a relaxing vacation in Cozumel, Mexico. It was a much needed vacation and long overdue. Be Proud Of Your Life, OWN It

Life, Legacy, Thoughts, Happiness, Family Estates

“Born This Way” is about being yourself and loving who you are and being proud!  Lady Gaga

Today, I am all about owning the life you are given. I have not always been at this point in my life. It took prayer and some deep soul searching for me to get to this stage. It seems so weird for me to say this because for so long, I have felt that I was not afforded some of the tangible luxuries as others. What I mean by this is that whereas other families have family estates, funds, and other trinkets passed downed, I have not.

I Thought About It, I Went For It, I'm Blonde

Stylist, Blonde, Hair, Color, Experiment, Life

Life is too short for boring hair! Anonymous

So, I finally did it! Yes Chile, I took the plunge and became a blonde! Not a full fledged blonde, but a blonde none the less. Give me some time I might become one though! It is all about timing. For a long time I have been saying that I wanted to see what the hype was all about it. I have never been one to shy away from experimenting and trying something new. It’s how I embrace life and it keeps me from being fearful in other things I want to try. We only live once, so I have taken on the mantra to live it as best as I can. Some might say “I’m going through a mid-life crisis” and you know what I might be, but for now I say what the HELL, I’m living and loving life through my eyes!

Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom. ~ Aristotle

When we do not know our place in life, we allow all sorts of things to distract us. What I mean by this is that we allow others to mistreat us and we lose our focus on what’s important, US! Let me put it to you in another way, if YOU do not realize your worth, you will allow anyone to treat you however they feel.

Learning to Live a Better Way of Life; Old versus New

Past, Obstacles, Change, Life, Journey, Genuine, Different

Your life does not get better by chance it get better by change. ~
 Jim Rohn

Learning how to live a different life from your past can be daunting. There are many obstacles that can stand in your way if you let them. Your mind plays a big part in changing past behavior. Understanding why you are a certain way takes work, it is not something that will happen overnight. It takes time, sometimes even years and it is something that has to be worked on daily. It is a continuance. It is something you have to be conscious of. If you think you can change overnight you are off to a wrong start.

Forgiving Others for Their Wrongs in Your Life

It’s not an easy journey, to get to a place where you forgive people. But it is such a powerful place, because it frees you. Tyler Perry
It’s amazing what prayer can do when you truly give something you are going through to God. I can remember in my 20’s, 30’s and the beginning of my 40’s, I had no tolerance for any bull-crap when it came down to certain situations in my life. It is no secret, everyone knows that as well. I’m still a work in progress however lately because of my “War Room” closet I’ve come to look at things differently. This movie was a God send and it surely feels like it came along at the right time in my life. It really makes you more aware and serves as a reminder of how praying consistently, intently, with purpose and being specific in your request changes things.

Goals, 2016, Ambitious, Motivation

Committing your goals to paper increases the likelihood of you achieving them by one thousand percent. Anonymous

So, we are officially in 2016!
Today, marks the 5th day of the New Year.

Are you off to a good start?

Have you put some plans in motion so that your 2016 can be prosperous?
If you did not don’t fret, there’s still time to jot down some goals you have for yourself. It’s all about planning and executing in 2016! In the past I wasn’t a big planning person. I just winged it. Sometimes, that worked and sometimes it didn’t. Today however, I have made it a point to write things down so that I can see it in the natural. When I see my goals written, it gives me more of a visual of what direction I need to go in. It’s a work in progress but one that I am looking forward to see blossom.
